The function of Neuregulin 3

NRG3 can bind the extracellular domain of the ERBB4 receptor tyrosine kinase but not to the related family members ERBB2 or ERBB3. NRG3 binding stimulates tyrosine phosphorylation of ERBB4.

Neuregulin 3 is also known as NRG3, it is a member of the neuregulin protein family which in humans is encoded by the NRG3 gene.
NRG3 is a member of the neuregulin gene family. This gene family encodes ligands for the transmembrane tyrosine kinase receptors ERBB3 and ERBB4 - members of the epidermal growth factor receptor family. Ligand binding activates intracellular signaling cascades and the induction of cellular responses including proliferation, migration, differentiation, and survival or apoptosis. This gene encodes neuregulin 3 (NRG3).
